This hat, companion piece to Soft Honeycomb cowl, works up quickly in bulky weight yarn and is ideal for a last-minute gift. It begins with a tubular cast-on for a neat and stretchy edge and works up from the ribbed lower edge to the crown.

Offered in three sizes, Youth/Teen to fit head circumference 19-20”/48-51cm, Small Adult to fit head circumference 21-22”/53-56cm, Large Adult to fit head circumference 23-24”/58-61cm, when worked to pattern tension of 21 sts and 20 rows to 4”/10cm measured over Honeycomb Cable pattern. The Honeycomb Cable pattern is given using both written and charted instructions, and a link to a photo tutorial is provided for the tubular cast-on.

You will need:
110 (120, 135) yards/100 (110, 123) m bulky/chunky weight yarn
5.5mm (US 9) knitting needles for working in the round, or one size smaller than needed to achieve pattern tension
6mm (US10) knitting needles for working in the round (including in small circumferences) or size needed to achieve pattern tension
Additional pair of 5.5mm (US9) straight knitting needles for beginning tubular cast-on (or additional 5.5mm (US9) circular needle with cable of minimum length 24”)

6mm (size J) crochet hook and length of waste yarn – for crochet chain provisional cast-on
Darning needle
