Soft Meadow – knitting pattern for baby blanket
(also suited for sofa blanket, rectangular shawl, dishtowel or table runner)
This spring I received a variety of cotton yarn balls, most of them in different shades of green, because I had ordered two “Baby Organic Color Bags”.
As I admired them, I got the idea of this Soft Meadow baby blanket.
Just the thought of a soft, cozy baby blanket looking like a mossy meadow with these beautiful and soothing shades of green made me happy.
And now it is finished and with it the Soft Meadow pattern for a baby blanket with at least 4 colors or a larger sofa blanket, a rectangular shawl, a towel or a table runner.
The special thing about this 3-pattern stripe combination is that the pattern stripes mesh with each other through the slip stiches, which is enhanced by the colors.

Basic knitting skills needed:
cast on,
knit and purl
knit edge stitches,
slip purlwise
(with yarn in front / with yarn in back),
cast off

Material:
1 circular knitting needle
(US size 2.5, 40 to 60 inches long for a blanket, 24 inches for a shawl)
Cotton yarn (100% cotton) – 4 colors at least
Hobbii Baby Cotton (Fingering – Super Fine)
or
Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 (Fingering – Super Fine)
or
Schachenmayr Catania (Sport – Fine)
or
If you want to knit a warm sofa blanket or a shawl, you can also use soft merino wool:
Rosy Green Wool - Cheeky Merino Joy (Sport – Fine)
1 darning needle for weaving in the yarn ends

Gauge:
10 cm x 10 cm = 26 stitches and 32 rows in knit-purl pattern
(as described in the pattern)
Tip: Observing the gauge is only needed if certain dimensions are to be achieved.

Soft Meadow – Strickanleitung für eine Babydecke
(auch geeignet für eine Sofadecke, einen breiten Schal, ein Gästehandtuch oder einen Tischläufer)

Im Frühling hatte ich zwei „Baby Cotton Organic Color Bags“ bestellt und saß vor insgesamt 20 Knäueln in 10 verschiedenen Farben (vor allem Grüntöne), die nur noch zu etwas Wunderbarem verstrickt werden wollten.
Da kam mir die Idee zu dieser „Soft Meadow“ Anleitung.
Schon der Gedanke an eine softe, kuschelige Babydecke, die wie eine weiche Wiese wirkt, in diesen schönen und beruhigenden Grüntönen, ließ mich entspannt lächeln.
Und jetzt ist sie fertig und dazu die Anleitung, mit der du nicht nur eine 3-Muster-Babydecke mit mindestens 4 Farben stricken kannst, sondern auch eine größere Sofadecke (gern auch aus weicher Wolle – es muss ja nicht immer Baumwolle sein), einen Schal, ein Handtuch oder einen Tischläufer.
Das Tolle an dieser Kombination aus den drei Mustern ist auch, dass sie durch die Hebemaschen sozusagen ineinander greifen.

Alles was du dazu können solltest, ist:
Maschen anschlagen,
rechte und linke Maschen stricken,
Randmaschen rechts stricken,
Maschen links abheben
(mit dem Faden hinter/vor der Masche),
Maschen abketten

Material:
1 Rundstricknadel (3 mm, 120 cm für eine Decke, 60 cm für einen Schal)
Baumwollgarn (100% Baumwolle) in min. 4 Farben
Hobbii Baby Cotton (Fingering – Super Fine)
oder
Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 (Fingering – Super Fine)
oder
Schachenmayr Catania (Sport – Fine)
Wenn du eine warme Sofadecke oder einen Schal stricken willst, kannst du auch weiche Merino-Wolle nehmen:

1 Stopfnadel zum Vernähen der Fadenenden

Maschenprobe:
10 cm x 10 cm = 26 Maschen und 32 Reihen im Rechts-Links-Muster (wie in der Anleitung beschrieben)
Tipp: Die Maschenprobe ist hier nur nötig, wenn bestimmte Maße eingehalten werden sollen.
