The Soft Spikes Blanket pattern is a beginner suitable pattern. Its created with simple stitches that result in a beautiful classic blanket with a soft drape.
Information is included to recreate the rainbow striped verstion yet it also includes images of other blankets that have been made with this pattern to guide and assist you to create your own custom colourway and layout.
Aran blanket with a 5.5mm hook will result in a blanket approx. 84cm/33” x 94cm/37”
DK blanket with a 4.5mm hook will result in a blanket approx. 70cm/27.5” x 76cm/30”
Yarn required will depend on the colour layout you choose to do but guides for each of the 15 rows in the blanket have been provided.
The pattern comes as a 10 page PDF download, with comprehensive instructions.

- information on how to calculate the pattern to your own custom sizing or colour way.
- a blank chart to assist you in planning your own colourway.
The pattern sizing information is based on using Aran yarn but it can also be made in DK. In fact, you could customise it to almost any yarn as you can repeat or reduce the repetition of the stitches as needed.
Stitches used are (US - CH, SC, DC, HDC), (UK - CH, DC, TR, HTR) Spike Stitch (includes pic and explanation on the stitch), and Crab Stitch border (optional).
