Softly Comes Spring
This Raglan sweater is all about the yarn! It features a wide mock cable ribbing. It is knitted with two strands of yarn held together: one strand of 3ply wool and one strand of lace weight silk/mohair blend. The silk/mohair blend was variegated, while the 3 ply was of a single tone, and this produces a muted variegated effect. It is designed to be worn with 10-15cm ease. The bottom of the garment sits 10cm below natural waist. The sweater is a good staple wardrobe piece and highlights the soft haze of the yarn.
Construction Notes:
The garment is knitted top-down seamlessly. Initially, the yoke is worked back and forth in rows with shaping the along raglan seams and additional shaping along the front neckline edges. Stitches are then cast on along the base of the front neckline, and the yoke is then joined in the round. After raglan shaping the sleeve stitches are held on waste yarn while body is knitted down to the ribbing. Sleeve stitches are then picked up and the sleeves knitted top-down in the round to the cuff.
