Inspiration for this pattern: When a good friend of mine returned home from a trip to Switzerland, she showed me this cute hand knit cat with baby kittens, that she found while she was there. I thought it was just the cutest thing, so I started scanning the internet to find a pattern and the more I looked, the more I just couldn’t find it. So I turned to the next best thing and borrowed it from my friend. This pattern is my attempt to replicate the mother cat my friend brought home from Switzerland. The reason for calling it SOHO is because I found the perfect shade of yarn at the Purl Bee yarn shop in Soho while visiting New York City for the first time. BTW, purchasing yarn while on a trip is one of my favorite souvenirs. It’s fun to have a hat, socks, scarf or in this case momma cat and kittens, to remember fun places I’ve visited. With this one ball of yarn, I was able to make this pattern for each of my four children. I saw my friends knitted cat when it was fresh and new and several years later when I borrowed it, you could see that the cat had been given a lot of love and attention. Hopefully the cats you make will receive the same love and enjoyment!
