Let’s just not talk about how it’s been and focus on something else…like the squishiness of yarn? Or how there’s something soothing about slipping stitches and easy repeat patterns? I’m sure you’ll be able to think of loads more of pleasant thoughts while you focus your attention on a special skein of super soft fingering weight yarn slipping through your hands, knitting away on this extra deep, slouchy cowl.

Materials:
1 - 100g skein of your favorite fingering weight yarn (sample shown uses Dream in Color Smooshy Cashmere, 70/20/10 superwash merino/cashmere/nylon, 400 yds, color 574 Charcoal Prismatic)
1 - US 3 circular needles in 16 inch length (I had no problem fitting all stitches on this length, but you may prefer starting with a 22-24 inch length and then switching to 16 inch after first decrease)
1 - Stitch marker to denote beginning of round
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Measurements:
This cowl is tapered, working from the bottom up. It is approximately 29 inches around at the base, 24 inches around after the first decrease, and 19 inches around after second decrease. Suggestions for sizing adjustments given in pattern.

Skills/Difficulty:
I recommend you have some experience carrying yarn behind stitches. The pattern is not difficult, but it is rather “loopy” with loose stitches, so if you are unfamiliar with carrying yarn over multiple stitches in the back of your work, you may become frustrated with this project as it could be too easy for you to knit it too tightly.
