’Solar Flare’ is a shawl inspired by a set of mini skeins representing the Solar System that I purchased from Dyenosaur Yarns. The set contained 10 x 10g/40m little balls of yarn all themed with the sun and the 9 planets orbiting it.

The shawl is a crescent shape - this shape wears so well and is perfect for covering up shoulders on a cool summer evening with it’s capelet like effect. The shape is also a nod to the moon and the part it plays in our solar system too.

The shawl is worked from the top, starting with the ‘sun’ flaring out above all the other planets.

This shawl would be perfect for any mini-skeins and can be made bigger by simply adding on more and more colours.

My shawl measures 52” across and has a depth of 12”.
