Materials: 5.5mm hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) ; #4 weight yarn ; sewing needle (for ends) ; measuring tape (for gauge swatch)

Stitches used: chain, single crochet, half double crochet, half double decrease, bean stitch+, camel stitch+, x stitch+, bean decrease+, camel decrease+, x-stitch decrease+, single crochet back loops only+ (+ = special stitch that includes written instructions within the pattern)

Gauge: Ch 7, sc in the second chain from the hook and in each stitch down; ch 1 and turn, sc into the first stitch, SCBLO in each of the next 4 stitches, SC into the last stitch rep 7 more times (8 rows in total) = 2in by 2in swatch
The gauge for this pattern is also the beginning of the brim. If your swatch is accurate for gauge, continue to the remaining rows of the brim portion of the pattern.
