The Soleil Market Bag is a medium-sized shoulder bag, made entirely of raffia featuring a round shape that almost mimics a basket. When designing it, I really wanted to focus on making something timeless but also functional, which is why I designed the body to have a simple mesh stitch, and why I added the long straps for portability. While I plan on using this bag a lot in the spring and summertime at farmers’ markets and the beach, I think it would also make a great errand bag for the fall and even winter. I’ve also found it to be the perfect size for carrying my next crochet project around with me while I’m on the go.

This listing is a PDF CROCHET PATTERN for the Soleil Market Bag, NOT a finished item. It is written in U.S. standard crochet terms.

Crochet level:
-Confident Beginner (You should know how to read a crochet pattern and be comfortable with the basic stitches and working in the round. All other stitches and techniques are explained in the pattern.)

This purchase includes 2 downloadable versions of the pattern:
-1 intended for computer use (dark version) and 1 printable version (light version)
Both versions have written instructions as well as step-by-step pictures.

Materials needed:
-Crochet hook J/6 mm or hook needed to obtain gauge
-2 strands of Wool and the Gang Ra-Ra Raffia held together (other suggested yarns include Natural Club Raffia, Hobbii Rafaella, and Papyrus Raffia, but 2 strands of DK/light worsted weight yarn held together could also work) (amount of yarn needed listed below)
-546 yds 500 m / 7.1 oz 200 g
-Scissors
-Tape measure
-Stitch markers
-Darning needle

This pattern comes with instructions for 1 size. The bag’s dimensions are as follows:
Diameter: 9.5 in 24 cm
Height: 9 in 23 cm
Strap length: 14 in 35.5 cm
