Solitude
Solitude is a top-down raglan sweater that is meant to be worn with 1-2 inches of positive ease. The yarn over arm increases add a delicate touch to this romantic garment. The three-quarter length sleeves give the garment a more casual feel, while the lacework on the side helps create a piece that can be dressed up when the occasion arises. There are a series of increases around the bust line, resulting in a loose, flowing garment. The sweater is worked in the round until the lace paneling section begins. The sweater is then worked flat in rows. The lace panel is completed afterwards. The sweater and panel are blocked to the listed measurements, and then the panel is sewn into place.
Size: Finished, blocked measurements: XS (31 inch bust), S (33 inch bust), M (35 inch bust), L (37 inch bust), XL (41 inch bust), 2XL (44 inch bust)
Yarn: Knit Picks fingering kettle dye (pictured in slate) for main colour— 986, 1011, 1150, 1231, 1381, 1531 yards (901, 924, 1051, 1125, 1262, 1400 metres)
Knit Picks Bare Stroll fingering sock for contrast lace panel colour—315, 315, 345, 345, 395, 395 yards (288, 288, 315, 315, 361, 361 metres)
It is recommended that you use yarn with a good drape, as the garment is meant to be flowing. As well, a yarn with good drape allows the lace panel to flow and move.
Needles: US 3 (3.25mm) or size needed to obtain gauge circular needles (for sweater body), as well as US 3 (3.25mm) double pointed needles for sleeves.
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, scrap yarn to hold arm stitches
Gauge: 25 sts and 28 rows is 4 x 4 inch blocked square in stockinette
