"Solstice Arrow" A Crochet Hat
The “Solstice Arrow” was created as a simple Tapestry Crochet Hat. The pattern is simple and easy, but you need to know how to make FPdc and work with two colors in crochet. The theme of this hat is to celebrate the Solstice with bright beautiful colors This is a family theme hat as well. Thanks to R. Buffalo Jr. for his help and feedback in testing this pattern.
You may use yarns from dk to Worsted weight. I like HiKoo because it is washable. The Gauge is 5.25 to 6 FPdc per inch, 4.50 to 5.25 Rnds of FPdc per inch, in pattern, it is that flexible! Tapestry Crochet makes a very dense fabric, but this hat takes that into consideration and it has some ventilation at the crown.
Blocking the hat by means of immersion in warm water and stretching to size over your favorite hat blocker is easy. I use a stainless steel bowl or a plastic container. You will find that once you block the hat it will stretch anywhere from 1 to 3 inches depending on the material and your tension.
You have a design with the ability of creating many Hat sizes. Whether for a baby, teenager or an adult, it adjusts to the appropriate size. Gauge is dependent on tension, hook size & yarn weight, allowing you to be creative in sizing.
