Solstice Cavorting Cape
Designed for the Phat Fiber Sampler Box March 2013 “Celtic Inspired”
Observing Winter Solstice at Stonehenge must have been a chilly, but joyful time, since the Winter Solstice was the harbinger of the change of the angle of the Earth and Spring was coming.
Solstice Cavorting Cape pays homage to that change in
angle and provides warmth that stays in place. It can also be wiggled down to your hips and worn as a mini skirt as Spring approaches.
Knit in the round, the yarn overs in the mesh forms an extra back layer that traps warmth. Cast on can be with a special 2 I cord stitch method, long tail cast on or a crochet chain cast on. After the eyelet edge is worked, left leaning mesh is worked for the bottom of the cape. Then, right leaning mesh is worked for the top and is finished with a top eyelet edge. Bind off can be I cord or simple bind off. An optional I cord drawstring can be worked in the top or bottom eyelet edge.
32” at top edge, 64” at bottom edge
