In December in the Pacific Northwest, I light a lot of candles. I knit a whole bunch of these decorative tea light holders a couple of years ago for holiday gifts, and unearthed my notes again this season. This pattern is a solstice gift to you! Knit a lacy sleeve to fit over a jam jar (don’t we all have a cupboard full?) and enjoy candle light shining through your knitted stitches.

I used leftovers from my seemingly bottomless bag of Spinni Wool 1 remnants. You might use any lace or fingering-weight scraps of yarn, and play with the needle size to achieve a stretchy fabric that will hold a jam jar firmly. As with most knitting, the proof is in the blocking, and these little sleeves can be stretched and pinned into a variety of dimensions once the knitting is done. Have fun experimenting!
