Something For The Roadtrip
What do weekends and road trips have in common? Well, just as Monday seems ages away on a Friday night so does your final destination as you’re setting out. The days in between are fun and carefree, but the end of both the weekend and your journey always arrive far too quickly and you find yourself looking forward to doing it all over again. Something for the Roadtrip captures that vibe perfectly.
This shawl has a very large cast on but don’t let that put you off…stitch markers are your friend! The staggered, alternating sections add an interesting detail to the design that will certainly keep you on your toes! But that cast on is worth it because you will be rewarded at the end of your knitting trip with an elegant shawl that can also be worn as a gorgeous scarf, and which is big enough to act as a blanket to keep you cosy on your journey or just on the sofa!
I always design patterns that are suitable for knitters of all abilities and despite the need for careful counting, this pattern is no different. It is an ideal pattern for beginners if you are looking for a project with a slight challenge, but is far easier than it looks. And for the seasoned knitter, it’s a great box set companion, that you can be put down and pick up easily. Of course, it’s also great for taking on a road trip!
It’s an enjoyable, rhythmic pattern that results in a beautiful, versatile accessory that you’ll want to make for yourself and friends and family over and over again!
I had so much fun designing this pattern and I really hope that you get as much enjoyment from knitting it as I did.
Happy knitting!
