Pattern can easily be adjusted to a car seat cover by reducing the number of border repeats. Cast on only 11 or 13 multiples of 8 stitches depending on your gauge.

Likewise, pattern could also easily be increased to crib size by increasing the length by several more repeats of the center pattern before following up with the ending border rows.
