Sommerdag begins with a provisional cast on followed by an Estonian lace border with nupps that flows naturally into lacy mock cables. It is knitted in two pieces from the bottom up and joined at the center with a three-needle bind-off. Afterwards, the stitches from the provisional cast on are picked up for the crochet chain edging.

The scarf’s width and length can be easily adjusted; instructions to do so are given in the pattern. A photo tutorial is included for the crochet chain edging. The lace border is charted only.

Sommerdag is part of my series Primstaven, which was inspired by feast and festival days on traditional Norwegian stick calendars. Sommerdag (“summer day”) falls on 14 April and marks the first day of the summer season.
