The Sonali Top is a lightweight top with three-quarter sleeves featuring a square neckline and a simple yet classic-looking stitch pattern. The top is made up of just 4 stitches and has minimal shaping, making it a great project for confident beginners looking to make their first garment, or even advanced crocheters looking for a wardrobe staple. The top also features a thin border around the neckline, cuffs, and bottom that gives the top a finished and elegant look. I wanted to design something that could be worn in the summer which is why I decided to make it with an open stitch pattern and also why I recommend using cotton yarn or another plant fiber for this project. I’ll be using my top all summer long, and probably also as a swimsuit coverup!

-Crochet hook G/4.0 mm or hook needed to obtain gauge
-DK weight yarn, I used Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Cotton but other suggested yarns include Drops Muskat, Hobbi Rainbow Cotton 8/6, and Valley Yarns Westhampton (estimated yardages for a full length top for each size are listed below)
-XS: 1000 yds 915 m / 16.3 oz 460 g
-S: 1100 yds 1000 m / 17.6 oz 500 g
-M: 1200 yds 1100 m / 19.4 oz 550 g
-L: 1400 yds 1280 m / 22.6 oz 640 g
-XL: 1535 yds 1400 m / 24.7 oz 700 g
-2XL: 1645 yds 1500 m / 26.5 oz 750 g
-3XL: 1750 yds 1600 m / 28.2 oz 800 g
-4XL: 1860 yds 1700 m / 30 oz 850 g
-5XL: 2100 yds 1920 m / 33.9 oz 960 g

This pattern comes with instructions for 9 sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). The sizes are meant to fit a chest circumference of 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46, 48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62 in 71-76, (81-86, 91.5-96.5, 101.5-106.5, 111.5–117, 122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-158) cm. If you are between sizes, size down for a tighter-fitting vest and size up for a looser-fitting top. The top is designed to have approximately 1.5-3.5 in 4-9 cm of positive ease. Measurements for the top itself can be found in the pattern.
