Sonay
The harvest moon is past and the temperatures are dropping day by day. A shawl is just the thing to ward off the rapidly approaching chill. Something lovely. Something cushy. Something fast! Sonay knits up in a hurry in luscious chunky weight wool and combines the ease of garter stitch with the diversion of leafy lace, cleverly worked on the bias and beautifully framed with an eyelet edging.
Size
One size: approx. 200 cm/79” wide and 66 cm/26” long at center.
Yarn
4 balls of TOFT Aran Wool (100% wool; 110m/120y per 100g) or any other chunky weight yarn, which gives you the correct gauge. Shown in colorways 11123 Silver (MC - 3 balls) and 10446 Cream (CC - 1 ball).
Needles
6.5 mm/US #10.5 circular needle (100 cm/40” long).
5.5 mm/US #10.5 circular needle (100 cm/40” long), or two sizes smaller than gauge needles.
Other
2 stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving, blocking pins.
Gauge
10 sts and 20 rows = 10 cm/4” in Garter st measured flat after wet blocking. The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage.
