What testers have to say; ‘i love the pattern. it is gasp inducing.’, ‘it’s absolutely stunning - the 3 colour sections are so worth it’, ‘It’s a wonderful pattern’.

Inspired by ornate tapestries and walks in the woods, as well as the yarn kit by Rose Hill Yarns, this project will keep you engaged and excited for the finished project.

The first side of the cowl is the songbird nestled in the foliage. The second side is a birdhouse nestled in the foliage.

A provisional cast on edge is used for grafting at the end to create a seamless cowl.

This cowl can be knit using only two colours or three as shown in the photos. Or duplicate stitch can be added for more detail.

Yarn used is a kit from Rose Hill Yarns called Songbird. Although the yarn is listed on Ravelry as a light fingering any sock/ fingering yarn can be used.

GAUGE: after blocking, over pattern, knit in the round: 32 x 36 rounds = 4 inches (10cm)

Possible modifications could be to knit the songbird chart followed by the birdhouse each round making the inside of the cowl different from the outside. Another could be to knit only the songbird chart over the entire cowl. Or, a knitter could repeat the charts to create a long scarf rather than a cowl. Knitters can also choose to switch the main colour and contrast colour half way through the project or from the inside to the outside.
