The Sonny Flower Cap is a knitted sculpture that rests on top of your head. (I was inspired by a Sonny Angel Flower Series figurine :) and am going to wear this for Halloween!)
The base of the Sonny Flower Cap is knit in a similar manner to a top down hat so it does have slight head shaping but it is not meant to fit a head more so rest atop. The flower can be attached to a hat or balaclava you already own. Place the finished flower on top of the hat/balaclava, attach it with stitch markers or safety pins and then sew the flower to the hat using a tapestry needle.
The pattern includes instructions for making ties if you would like to tie the flower onto your head and wear it as a hat.
This pattern was designed with the intention of the flower being positioned on the crown of the head rather than directly on top. It is recommended to wear it on the crown for the best fit possible.

The gauge is optional, as this is an object that rests on top of your head or on top of a hat etc. It doesn’t have a specific size. The pattern also has instructions at the end for adding additional petals if you want more coverage from your flower.
