Sonora Fire - is a kind of poinsettia plant whose vibrant crimson foliage brighten and embellish our homes and offices during Christmas season. This pattern seemed to resemble it a lot, so I named my shawl after that beautiful plant.

I invite you to knit a stranded and steeked triangular shawl. The shawl is worked in rounds from the bottom tip up, allowing you to knit it to the desired size. Then the steek is reinforced and cut open, and you pick stitches up along the edges to create a folded facing, which will hide the cut edges of the steek.

Suggested yarn
For this project I recommend 100% sheep wool yarn, fingering or sport weight (350-450 m/100 g or 383-492 yard/3.5 oz).
You will need yarn of two different colors - main color (MC) - for the background, and contrast color (CC) for the pattern. You may select two solid colors; or solid color yarn and variegated yarn. Two different variegated yarns may look great, too.

And you want to be absolutely certain that you yarn colors wouldn’t bleed! Check it with a swatch.

Optionally, you may incorporate beads in your knitting.

Gauge may vary depending on needle size, yarn weight, and your knitting tension.

The gauge was 25 st and 32 row over 10 cm (4”) on 3.5 mm (US # 4) needles.

Yarn usage depends on how big you want the shawl to be. Since the pattern repeats, you can choose a convenient size for yourself (depth at longest point). For example, for a medium size shawl (about 90 cm/3’ deep at the longest point) you will need approximately 250-270g ( 8.8-9.5 oz) yarn of each color.

Please keep in mind that the folded facing is a rather yarn consuming part of the shawl. So if you are limited in yarn, it’s better to complete the main part and proceed with the facing when you still have not less than 20% yarn left.

Needles and Notions: double pointed and circular knitting needles № 2.5mm - 3.5mm (American sizes ## 2-4); 2 sets of spare circular needles with long cord; stitch markers; really sharp scissors; crochet hook 1.75 mm (American steel crochet hook #4); tapestry needle; beads - optional.

Difficulty level - moderate.

Fair Isle/stranded knitting; knitting in the round on double pointed and circular needles; steeking; floats trapping; following stitch charts; increasing and decreasing sts; picking up stitches along edges.
For those who are new to steeking: you may be scared by the idea of cutting a knitted fabric. But when everything has been done right, you will be excited with the result!

Я предлагаю вашему вниманию треугольную шаль, выполненную в технике разрезного жаккарда.
Связана она по кругу, от верхушки треугольника к основанию, со стиками, затем полотно разрезано и обвязано каймой по периметру.

Материалы. В качестве пряжи я рекомендую использовать овечью шерсть без примесей, 350 - 450 метров в 100 гр.
Понадобится пряжа двух цветов: для фона и рисунка. Можно использовать либо две однотонных, либо однотонную и секционного крашения, либо две секционноокрашенных.
Обратите внимание на стойкость окрашивания пряжи.
Можно при желании ввязать в полотно бисер, но это не обязательно.

Расход зависит от того, какой размер готового изделия вы хотите получить. Поскольку жаккардовый узор повторяется, вы можете выбрать любой удобный для себя размер по вертикали. Для шали среднего размера (примерно 90 см по высоте от вершины к основанию треугольника) вам понадобится в среднем по 250 - 270 грамм пряжи обоих цветов. Обратите внимание: финальная отделка (кайма) - довольно расходный по материалу элемент.
