Guest stars were in abundance during the seven-season run of Gilmore Girls, many going on to have illustrious careers or star in their own series after appearing on the show. Lane’s guitar-playing crush Dave RogowskiRygalski was, played by Adam Brody, who went on to star in Tthe O.C. on the CW. Lorelai’s boring date Peyton Sanders was played by Jon Hamm, who went on to be a lead in Mad Men. Artist and fellow Yale student Lucy was played by Krysten Ritter, who went on to be the title character in Jessica Jones, to name a few. Cameos were also fairly common on Gilmore Girls, with appearances by Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, and two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author, Norman Mailer. A famous curmudgeon, Mailer’s son Stephen was a friend of one of the Gilmore staff writers and played a reporter interviewing him the famous curmudgeon at the Dragonfly Inn in Season 5. Mailer read the episode where he drives Sookie crazy by only ordering iced tea and taking up a table, and he thought it was “cute.” He later proclaimed that while filming, “I was not miserable.” A fan favorite, Episode 6, called, “Norman Mailer, I’m Pregnant,” is when Sookie realizes she’s expecting her first child.

Ditch your “I don’t want to know the sex of my baby” pin and run to the baby shed! Made to resemble a sewn quilt, this garter stitch seamless modular baby blanket is worked from block to block. By picking up stitches from the previous square and working directly off it, 25 striped blocks fan out in a square shape that is easily made larger or smaller. Plan your stripes to make a pattern, work from leftover bits and bobs in your stash, go with all solids, or pick your colors as you go. Borders are then picked up and knit across each side individually.
