The Soulmates Hats, by Meghan Babin, are two cozy beanies worked from three skeins of Hudson + West Co. Weld in alternating colors, creating two perfectly complementary hats. Hat A is a longer slouch hat, to wear either long or folded up once for a closer fit, while Hat B is a skull cap made to fit close to the head and cover the ears. Weld is held doubled throughout for sections of solid and marled fabric, creating two distinctly different, but similar hats.

Finished Size
One size; 16” / 40.75 cm finished circumference (unstretched); Hat A: 10” / 25.5 cm finished height; Hat B: 8” / 20.5 cm finished height, after blocking. Note: Hats will stretch to fit a 19”- 23” / 48.25 - 58.5 cm head circumference.

Yarn
Hudson + West Co. Weld (70% U.S. Merino / 30% U.S. Corriedale; 200 yds / 183 m; 1.76 oz. / 50 g): C1 - red feather (burnt orange), C2 - midnight (deep navy); C3 - smoke (steel gray), 1 skein each.

Needles
Size A (for hat): Size US 6 / 4 mm: 16” / 40 cm circular (circ) and double-pointed needles (dpn), or preferred method for working small-circumferences..
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions
Stitch markers; tapestry needle; sharp sewing needle and thread; two H+W foldover labels.

Gauge
7 sts and 7 rows = 1” / 2.5 cm in 1x1 Rib with yarn held doubled (unstretched), after blocking.
