A close- fitting colourwork cowl, inspired by the vibration of sound through air, 70s psychedelia and the crackling white noise that can be heard when tuning an analogue radio. Designed to celebrate the launch of John Arbon’s new Yarn, ‘Yarnadelic’.

The cowl is worked lengthwise in stranded colourwork in the round and then either grafted together for a seamless finish, or joined using mattress stitch. The pattern on the outside, ‘Soundwave’, looks more complicated than it is and will soon become intuitive but never boring. The optional ‘Static’ pattern on the inside of the cowl offers a meditative break from the larger-scale outside pattern. The stripes in the background can be customised to taste for a more or less psychedelic knitting experience – a blank graph to help with colour choices is included in the pdf pattern.
