The Southern Cross is a star group visible mainly in the Southern Hemisphere. It is centered on four stars in a bright portion of the Milky Way. This pattern is a tribute to the constellation that watched over me as a child growing up in Australia.

The Southern Cross Cowl is knit from the bottom up, starting with an I-cord cast on. In the sample I knit 5 repeats of the pattern motif, however, the height of the cowl can be shortened or lengthened to your preference. You can also widen the cowl by adding to the repeats in the motif. The cowl is finished with an I-cord bind off.

This is an easy to memorize lace pattern and would make great on-the-go knitting.
