Spacedust
Spacedust is an asymmetrical triangular shawl, designed to make the most of a single skein of wildly variegated sock yarn. Knit on the bias, it drapes beautifully around the neck and shoulders, and is long enough to wear wrapped like a scarf.
Two stitch patterns are featured: ‘Star Rib Mesh’ and ‘Dotted Rib’, which both have short easily memorised repeats.
Skills needed include simple lace knitting, and a few special stitches which are described in the pattern. Charts and written instructions are both provided in full.
Materials: 410 yards / 375 metres of fingering-weight yarn. I used Skein’s BFL Sock (100% superwash BFL, 437 yards / 400 metres per 100g skein) in ‘Neon + Grey’. Choose a smooth fingering-weight or sock yarn with good drape. Spacedust is designed to show off speckle-dyed or variegated yarn, but would also look great in a solid or semi-solid colour.
Sizing: One size: 74” / 188cm along the longest edge (wingspan), and 15” / 38cm deep. Suggestions are included for resizing.
Pattern is for personal use only.
