Spark some joy
This hat issued from a scrap yarn stash dive, picking some of my favourite leftover yarn and seeing what I could do with it - this, admittedly slightly arbitrary, geometric themed hat was the result. I had so much fun knitting this and I hope that this design sparks joy in others too!
“There is great joy. It lives within you and lives in your genuine relationships with others.” Steps to Knowledge
Materials:
• One 3.25mm / US size 3 circular needle, 40cm / 16” in length, or size needed to meet the required gauge.
• One 2.75mm / US size 2 circular needle, 40cm / 16” in length, or one US size smaller than needle size used to obtain gauge.
• One 3.25mm / US size 3 circular needle, 80cm / 32” or 100cm / 40” in length, for magic loop or one set of 3.25mm / US size 3 DPNs, or size needed to meet the required gauge.
• Optional: Stitch markers, one of which is used to mark the beginning of round.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads, and blocking materials.
• Fingering weight yarn in three colours, approximately 120m / 131yds of the Main Colour, 45m / 50yds of Contrast Colour 1 and 30m / 33yds of Contrast Colour 2. Sample shown in Miss La Motte Singles, in colourway Jade Seaglass (MC), Leucadendron (CC1) and Silver Dollar (CC2).
• Optional: Pom pom. Sample pom pom is a TOFT Alpaca pom pom, approximately 11cm / 4.5” in diameter, shown in colour silver.
Size:
One size, 51cm / 20” in circumference, measured flat at the widest part of the hat. The hat measures approximately 23.5cm / 9.25” from the crown to cast on edge.
Gauge:
28 stitches and 35 rows = 10cm / 4” in stranded knitting, knitted in the round, and blocked. Knitting to gauge is important to ensure that your knitted item is the correct size, and to ensure that yardage requirements are similar to those stated in the pattern.
