This knitting pattern is for sandals or foot decorations that tie around the ankles. The ties are crocheted chains but can be knitted in I-cord instead. It is a relatively simple pattern and ideal for beginners, plus it requires only a few scraps of yarn.

I chose Blue Heron Rayon Metallic yarn because it knits up stretchy (and who does’t want to add some sparkle to their feet?), but most any DK yarn would be fine. These are great to wear with flats, or they can be worn barefoot around the house.

In the pics shown, my 4-year-old daughter (size Child) is modeling the pair I knit for her in the colorway Slate. She has big feet, but for older children--especially if they have large feet--the Adult size would probably fit best. My 4-year-old deems them perfect and comfy!
