Sparkling Human Socks
These socks were inspired by my Sparkly Human and Wild at Heart mug and glass set that was a gift from my Mom. The bright colours and cheerful font always makes me smile, and I wanted to try capture the sense of whimsy and joy in these Sparkling Human socks!
Materials:
• One 2.25mm (US size 1) circular needle, 100cm / 40” in length, or set of DPNs or in size needed to meet the required gauge.
• Stitch markers (2), one of which is used to mark the beginning of round.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads.
• 1 cable needle, optional.
• Blocking materials.
• Fingering weight (sock weight) yarn, exact yardage may vary and is dependent on size and foot length a 100g skein of sock yarn of the main colour should be suitable for most adult sizes along with oddments of yarn for contrasting colours, I used approximately 6g of each colour to knit 1 stripe of both socks for the leg and foot sections in a size 2, and slightly more for the stripes knitted along the gusset. Sample shown in cowgirlblues Proper Sock 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon, 366m / 400yds per 100g in colourway Silver Fox for the main colour.
Gauge:
34 stitches and 48 rounds = 10cm / 4” in slip stitch pattern, worked in the round and blocked.
Size:
1 (2, 3): The socks are 17,5cm (20cm, 22cm) / 7” (8”, 9”) in circumference. Socks are intended to fit with approximately 2.5cm – 4.5cm / 1” – 1.75” negative ease.
Updates: Pattern updated on 23 April, there are now two PDF’s, one with the original pattern and another download that includes an option to knit a modified option - the black, white and yellow socks.
