Mittens with flip-tops convert to fingerless gloves with the help of button fasteners and duplicate stitched snowflakes.

Gloves measure approximately 3.5 inches (9cm) across knuckles. Size can be adjusted by changing needle size.

Sample shown was worked with SV28 Blue Flannel, snowflakes are stitched with SY10 Vanilla.

Other notions:

Two (2) 1/2” (2.5 cm) buttons, 3 stitch holders (or scrap yarn), 1 stitch marker, tapestry needle

Techniques:

Pattern uses rib and stockinette. Kitchener stitch is used to graft thumb and mitten top, but can be seamed instead.

Snowflakes are worked in duplicate stitch.

The loop for the button is a crocheted chain, but a small elastic loop can be attached instead.

Pattern includes full written instructions, and snowflake charts.
