Meet the Speckled Afterthought socks, a whimsical, cuff down anklet with bright pops of color and a unique texture. With endless color combinations possible, these shorties are ideal for a stash busting project. Mix and match scraps for the contrast color, or pick your favorite speckled yarn and watch these little socks come to life!
Along with written instructions and charts, this pattern includes tutorial videos to walk you through working your first afterthought heel, mastering the cables and colorwork, and executing the german twisted cast on! Ideal for a second sock project these shorties will introduce you to a variety of new techniques to add to your skill set. Don’t be intimidated by the colorwork pattern, it consists of an easily memorizable 4 stitch repeat, and the contrast color is only held every third round!
While these socks are ankle length, they can easily be modified to full length.
SIZING
S (M, L, XL) to fit feet with a circumference of 7 (8, 9, 10)” / 17.75 (20.25, 23, 25.5) cm. Measurements are taken at the ball of the foot. Sizes are knit with 56 (64, 72, 80) total sts. Pictured in size M on a foot measuring 8.25” in circumference. Testers recommend sizing down if you are between sizes.
NEEDLES/NOTATIONS
-US size 1 / 2.25mm or gauge size needles (DPN or Magic Loop)
-2 removable stitch markers, tapestry needle (for finishing)
