Speckled Mitts
Speckled Mitts begins with a tubular cast on and 1x1 ribbing. Then an easy fair isle pattern takes over for the body while gradual increases on one side form a thumb gusset. After binding off the extra thumb stitches the fair isle pattern is continued for a few rows before completing the mitts with a snug icord bind off. This pattern has both written and charted instructions for two sizes, Adult Small and Large.
Coming in at just barely 80 yards for a large pair and even less for a small pair, these mitts are a great way to get rid of some leftover worsted/aran/bulky weight yarn. Have a lot of scraps? Try changing your contrast color every two rows for some really crazy gloves! The stranded colorwork multiplies the warmth of these mitts which makes them a great winter accessory.
