Spellweave Cushions
For a dear friend’s wedding, I designed an afghan using hidden heart motifs and interlocking cables to celebrate them tying the knot. Later, I was inspired to convert the design into two coordinating cushions, so that you can knit the cable designs before working the larger afghan. When asked for an appropriate pattern name, the groom suggested ‘Spellweave’ feeling he had cast a spell over his bride.
Full color pictures and charts will guide you though each step. The techniques for the two cushions in this pattern include unique one piece construction, cable-braid & piped edges and buttoned back opening.
Yarn requirements: 650 yards or 3 skeins.
Other supplies needed: four 5/8’’ buttons, tapestry needle and a 12 x12 x 3 inch foam cushion
Different sizes can be achieved using different needle sizes, and differing weights of yarn which may increase or decrease your yardage requirements.
Matching afghan pattern is also available separately here.
This pattern is available at Knit Picks.
