This cowl showcases beautiful variegated yarn. I couldn’t choose only one texture to use because I wanted to celebrate the lovely variety of looks these yarns can create: the spice of life.

The light, textural stripes are opened up with dropped stitch ladders. Whilst not identical due to the alternating bands, the cowl is fully reversible. It is grafted for a seamless finish; this is an interesting intermediate project.

50g of yarn will make a narrow cowl, 70g makes the medium size (pictured) and 100g will give you a luxuriously wider version. Use a semi-solid shade for a subtler effect.

All sizes can be worn simply round the neck, or twisted up double as a pretty neck warmer. M & L sizes can also be opened out and worn round the shoulders, showing off the yarn and stitch pattern more fully.

Materials
Tall Yarns n Tales Soliloquy Sock Lace, 50 or 100g per skein. 600m/656yds per 100g.
50g (70g, 100g) in colour of your choice. Sample size M, Koigu Guest Dyed shade Montegue.
Small amounts of 2 different waste yarns
3mm/US 2 1/2 needles
Tapestry needle for grafting and to weave in ends
Stitch markers - safety pin & ring types

Note: if you substitute 4ply/fingering, you can comfortably make the small width with one 100g skein of most yarns. For the medium size, recommend one skein of a yarn with at least 400m/440 yds per 100g, or it will come out slightly shorter.

Tension
25 sts to 10cm/4” over stocking stitch/stockinette using 3mm/US 2/1/2 needles or size required to achieve tension.
