Gauge is not critical for this pattern. You will also need some kind of gardening wire or pipe cleaners to get the legs to bend.

Note 3/14/2012: It has been brought to my attention that this spider is not anatomically correct. A friendly arachnologist brought to my attention that spider’s legs are attached to the head, not the abdomen. So please consider this spider a cartoonish, rather than accurate, representation of a spider.
