From a 1950s (?) booklet; all patterns are written out, not charted; calls for 2 1/2 oz cobweb wool and old British needle size No. 10

This glorious lace scarf photographed on our cover was designed in traditional stitches by Miss Julia Sutherland. The Sutherland family are famous for their fine lace knitting, and have on many occasions had the honour of making scarves, knitted samplers and shawls for presentation to members of the Royal Family. The centre piece of this scarf has a repeat pattern of daisies, dewdrops and a wheel pattern known as the “Puzzle,” which is said to have been copied by knitters in Unst from spiderswebs.

Materials
2 1/2 ozs Copley’s “Cobweb” 1 ply yarn.
Size 10 needles (old British size) converts to 3.25mm or US 3
