Spikelet Socks
Flowering grass tips or spikelets come to mind when you see these socks’ texture. Here is an opportunity to learn a fun new bobble technique! Spikelet Socks are short toe-up socks with an alternating skyp pattern and an original braided bobble ribbing on the cuffs that work up quickly.
Skill level: advanced beginner to intermediate; need to know Judy’s Magic Cast On, magic loop, wrapping stitches, knitting wrapped stitches, stretchy bind-off.
Finished dimensions: Small: foot circumference about 7” (17.5cm), Large: foot circumference about 8” (20 cm)
Suggested Yarn: sock weight yarn, about 1.75 oz (50 g) or 232 yd (213 m) for Small size, 2 oz (60g) or 280 yd (260 m) for Large size. Teeny Button Studio Soft Sock in Eyes of Emerald Green colorway was used in the sample.
Needles: size 1 (2.25 mm) circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. You may also use dpns, distributing each half of the sts on 2 dpns (2 dpns for instep side, and 2 dpns for sole side)
Gauge: 8 st and 12 rows = 1” (2.5 cm) in stockinette
