Originally published for our Spring 2016 LYS tour, this pattern is no longer available as a free download. We enhanced the design (now a poncho too!), added more thorough instructions and beautiful photographs by Jared Flood, and published it as a new Churchmouse Classic in our Autumn 2016 collection. You can find it here on our website, and here on Ravelry.

We were delighted by this traditional Estonian stitch. Not lace, but so lace-like! Not cabled, but twisted by ‘spinning’ a cluster of stitches 180 degrees. Knit in a lace-weight mohair, the blocked fabric is gossamer fine between the twists. And the surface has such a lovely undulating texture and motion. Twists along the edges create deep, three-dimensional scallops. We’ve sampled in spring-inspired colors - but love the darker shades for a dressy evening accessory. Forty colors of Rowan’s Kidsilk Haze to choose from!
