On the northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake lies a massive unique sculpture by Robert Smithson entitled Spiral Jetty - a fifteen hundred foot long coil of crystals and rock.

Spiral Jetty is a colorful pixie bonnet, worked flat from brim to nape. Stretchy one by one ribbing forms the band, and a strip of stranded color work spirals add interest to the body.

Spiral Jetty is a quick and easy project for intermediate knitters. Requires familiarity with stranded color knitting.

Finished Measurement
• One size (newborn). Width: 13 inches. Depth: 6 ½ inches.

Materials
• Yarn – Sport weight - 20 grams (60 yards) of the main color and 15 grams (45 yards) of the contrast color
• Gauge – 28 stitches and 32 rows make 4”x4” in stockinette stitch
• Needles – Set of size 6 straight needles for the hat and set of size 6 double pointed needles for the I-cord ties.
• Darning needle
