This is an elegant textured scarf. The borders are knitted with seed stitch and the main body with crossed v-stitch. When two repeats of the crossed v-stitch are knitted the result is something that looks like a “ tower” where the repeats meet.. So, I named the pattern “spires of Avalon”. I was also reading a science fiction book at the time, so it all went together.

The main stitch pattern of crossed v-stitch has crossed stitches on the ends and seed stitch in the middle. At first, I had to look at the instructions for the stitch pattern. After awhile, it was pretty easy to remember.

Suggested yarn: Solid color that would showcase the textured pattern.

Gauge : 2 repeats of the crossed v-stitch = 5 5/8 inches in width and 1 repeat = 2.5 inches vertically unblocked. Since it was acrylic and looked good without blocking, I did not block this scarf.

Materials: slip markers are nice to mark the border stitches and the beginning and ending of the repeats.
