Mermaids are just amazing aren’t they? The ‘Spirit of the Sea’ is a beautiful pattern and looks very effective when finished.
The pattern was developed for my mum to create as she ‘fancied a challenge’. So between me and my mum we came up with the idea that I would design her some ‘challenges’ and she would enjoy creating them. And here we are!
We have developed the pattern in different formats to follow: in a grid/block chart pattern to follow throughout, crochet symbols (for the first 8 rows so that you understand how to increase on each row) and written instructions for the first few lines until you get into the swing of it!
The yarn used was a 4 ply ( 2 x sheepjes whirlettes) which created a small/medium sized adult shawl.
Knowledge of filet crochet is needed to be able to do this project. Filet crochet is not hard to learn and there are you tube video to help.
