Splendid
Simple enough for even fairly inexperienced knitters, Splendid features a tab cast-on working out into featherlike textured chevrons, separated by openwork columns. Surface crochet stems flow out from the centre and into an eyecatching border of knitted-on leaves. This versatile shawl can be knitted in any yarn weight and any size you choose.
Model shawl was knitted in Pandora House pure merino worsted (~400m) and Noro Silk Garden (~350m) on a size 10 needle, body gauge 14 sts/17 rows per 10cm, blocked size approx 2m wingspan (not including leaves)
Materials:
You can use any yarn in any amount, depending on size required. The border leaves take up approx 70-80% of yardage for body, so for every 100m you use for the body, you will need a further 80m of yarn to work the border.
Needles to suit yarn – if using two different yarns, choose needles that give similar gauge.
Small differences can be blocked out so it doesn’t have to be absolutely identical, but as close as possible is better.
