Splendiferous Socks
December 5-12 all proceeds will be donated to Food Depot Alimentaire in Moncton, New Brunswick.
This very addictive pattern may look complicated, but it is surprisingly easy with fun slip stitches and a little cable to complete the motif. The stripes and the stitch motif combine to make these socks knit themselves. Even better, you can just carry your unused yarn up the inside of the sock…less ends to weave in!
The sock comes in 3 sizes and is knit from the top down with a heel flap and traditional gusset. I finished it with my version of a rounded toe.
Written and charted instructions are included with video tutorials to support the pattern.
I recommend two hightly contrasting yarns to show off the pattern. Check out my tester’s amazing project pages for inspiration.
I used 2 x 50g skeins of fingering weight yarn. I reversed my colours on each sock to make sure that I didn’t run out of yarn. If you want identical socks and not reverse the colours, you will need 2 x 100g skein and you will have leftover. My pair of ladies 64 stitch size 8 1/2 used 85g.
Huge thanks to my test knitters Heather J, Rochelle, Leanne, Kathryn, Heather E and Josee for their feedback and beautiful socks.
