This shrug was created so I could wear summer clothes to work and still keep my shoulders covered. Summer lasts quite a few months in Atlanta, so it needed to have two attributes. First, it needed to be durable and easy to care for. Rialto is a wonderful yarn that is machine washable and feels good, too. Secondly, it needed to be neutral in color and structure to coordinate with any outfit. The cables keep it interesting without overpowering.
As I was knitting, I noticed that the two cables had two very different personalities, even though they are virtually the same. One is just a bit more relaxed than the other… So wear it big cable up when you are feeling free spirited, and then turn it upside down when you’re ready to organize your yarn stash!
