Tabi socks, also known as split-toe socks or Japanese toe socks, have a separate space for the big toe. This division allows you to wear the socks with thong-style sandals such as flip-flops.

These socks are worked from the top down, have an after-thought heel, and since they have a defined ‘big toe’, you will have a left and right foot sock. The body of the sock is made with the extended single crochet stitch; foundation double and single crochet, front- and back-post double crochet stitches as well as basic chains, slip stitches and single crochet are used.
