Fat Ducks are known for consuming whatever they’re given, even after they’ve been satisfied. Unlike normal ducks, Fat Ducks are spoiled and have lost the ability to find their own food, preferring rather to be fed as much as possible, even waiting impatiently for their next feeding. They don’t do much besides eat, in fact, and they can easily be tricked into thinking it’s meal time when it actually isn’t.

With this pattern, you can crochet your very own Fat Duck plushie.

I’ve estimated that this pattern is “intermediate” difficulty. The more complicated stitches are used infrequently, and easier stitches can be substituted for them, but as written this pattern might be somewhat challenging for beginners to crochet.

Skill Level:

  1. Basic
  2. Beginner
  3. Intermediate - this pattern is here
  4. Advanced

This pattern assumes you are comfortable with crochet basics already. In addition, it helps to know amigurumi fundamentals since some intermediate crocheting techniques are used, including among others:

chainless starting single crochet, chainless starting double crochet, invisible decrease, and shaping

However, if you prefer to use a turning chain instead of chainless starting stitches and/or a regular decrease instead of invisible, you certainly can.

The shaping is optional.

Materials You Will Need:

Worsted weight yarn in white and orange
Two 6 mm safety eyes OR a small amount of black yarn
Crochet hook size G (4 mm)
Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors, stuffing

Final measurement for the chunky waterfowl is about 3.5 inches (9 cm) tall and approximately 3 inches (8 cm) wide, not including the wings. It weighs about 1 oz.

This pattern is in English and uses U.S. crochet notation.
