Spooky Spiders
This Spooky Spider is a fun way to decorate your home for Halloween. Pattern is considered Advanced Beginner/Intermediate due to the use of wire and technique used to make the bend in the legs.
Materials Needed:
G Hook (4.00mm) for the Head/Abdomen and Legs or any hook that does not create holes in your work
E Hook (3.5mm) for pedipalps/teeth
1.8 mm hook or other small lace hook for the eyes
- Any weight 4 yarn (70 yards)
- Sample is made with Caron One Pound
- Hot Glue or Fabric Glue
- 18 Gauge Wire or Pipe Cleaners (optional)
- Embroidery Floss
- Fiberfil
- Tapestry Needle
Notes/Tips:
• This pattern involves working in the round so I strongly suggest investing in a stitch marker. That doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy them, you can use a bobby pin or even a piece of scrap yarn.
• All of the body and legs are done with a G hook, the E hook is used for the Pedipalps, and the lace hook is used for the eyes.
• If using a different hook size, be sure to go down 0.5mm in hook size for the Pedipalps.
• The smaller part of the body is where the legs are attached, not the larger portion.
• When doing the bend in the legs, make sure your stitches are tight.
• When stufing the legs it may get dificult to work around wire, try using a pair of sharp scissors or a wooden
chopstick to help guide the iberil into the leg.
• You can add an extra piece of wire inside of the body (thread through head/abdomen) to make the body posable.
