Spooky the Ghost
It’s the spooky time of the year, and Spooky the Ghost is ready to celebrate Halloween with you. The undulating shape of the body is perfect for a ghost on the go and gives Spooky a life-like look (almost!).
This crochet project is worked from the hat to the bottom; everything is crocheted together. There is no sewing involved.
Spooky makes a great seasonal ornament. If you use a lighter-weight yarn and smaller-size hook, you can make a smaller Spooky for a keychain.
Difficulty Level: advanced beginner – intermediate
Crochet Stitches used in the pattern:
- Magic Circle
- Chain Stitch
- Slip Stitch
- Single Crochet Stitch
- Half Double Crochet Stitch
- Double Crochet Stitch
- Crochet into the back loop only
- Crochet into the front loop only
- Increase
- Decrease
The PDF is written in English, and it includes:
- A list of recommended materials and tools
- A written pattern (in US terms)
- Guiding images
- References: crochet technique introductions, including:
- Regular single crochet stitch vs. single crochet cross stitch
- How to change colors in single crochet
- How to make invisible single crochet decrease
- How to identify the “right side” and “wrong side”
As a reference, using the recommended materials and tools, Spooky the Ghost will be approximately 6” tall and 3” across on the bottom.
Following the same instructions, I used Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread (size 10) and a 1.25mm crochet hook to make a smaller-size Spooky also. It’s a good size (approx. 2.75’’ tall and 1.5’’ across on the bottom) for adding to a keychain.
