Spotted Cowl
Stay warm & stylish this fall with a fun new cowl! It’s written as a once-around-the-neck style, but it is easily adjustable in circumference (add or subtract groups of 24 stitches to make the circumference longer or shorter), as well as height (simply work more or less repeats of the Body Instructions)!
This is a pattern that will make excellent use of your craziest yarn. That variegated skein that looks like “clown barf” if you try to knit it in stockinette, and competes so strongly with any texture stitch that you just can’t take it? Pair it with a solid main color and it will give this cowl beautiful pops of color.
The “spots” are made with short rows (wrap & turn short rows are explained in detail in the pattern with a pictorial tutorial included, but feel free to substitute your favorite short-row method). Because of this, the cowl needs to be knit flat (trust me, I tried really, really hard to make this work in the round, but that last row of wraps doesn’t come out nicely if it’s worked in on a RS instead of a WS row). A video tutorial link is included that will walk you through seaming garter stitch if you are not already familiar with how to do that.
