Pattern for a Spotted Salamander crocheted blanket / tapestry. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.

All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)

You will need 4 skeins of white (A), 3 skeins of black (B), 2 skeins of gray (C) and 2 skeins of yellow (D) to complete this pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with skein lengths of about 350 yards/skein and a J hook.
I recommend either carrying all 4 colors through the entire pattern to keep it even or carrying white (A), Black (B) & gray (C) through the entire pattern and only using the yellow on the yellow spots. When you carry brighter colors like yellow you can see it through the pattern a little. Which, because it is done evenly throughout, may or may not be something you’re okay with. So you can turn each spot on the salamander into a place where you leave yellow yarn and come back for it until the spot is over (you can use bobbins if you like) or you can carry it through if that’s not a concern.

I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn) This pattern can be repeated and sewn together or combined with other patterns (most of my other patterns are also 150 stitches wide) to create a blanket. A border can also increase the size and give the project a more finished look.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.

150 stiches wide by 88 rows tall

Once you have purchased this pattern a text document that like this (below) will automatically download to you. If you have any trouble receiving it message me and I will have it e-mailed to you in no time. This pattern also comes with a Graph!

1.) A-150
2.) A-30, B-20, A-10, B-50
3….

The #’s are for each row
The letters are for different colors. (A = White, B = Black, C = Gray, D = Yellow)
(so the above pattern would have the first row be 150 stitches of color A. 2nd row would have 30 stitches of color A followed by 20 stitches of color B followed by 10 stitches of color A and so on….)
